KANSAS CITY, MO – The online world offers a number of abbreviations for patients looking for COVID-19 vaccinations.
The website owner said her team would do the work for you and schedule your appointment – free of charge. “Your COVID Shot” is one of several websites that offer support to frustrated vaccine seekers.
Mary Bolouri said she had become something of a subject matter expert while helping her grandmother make appointments for the vaccination. Unfortunately, Bolouri said she died waiting for the vaccine.
“I know if she had the COVID-19 vaccine she would be here with us today,” Bolouri said on Tuesday.
That’s why Boloiuri said she started this Your Covid Shot website. According to Bolouri, the web portal will help patients overcome the bureaucratic burden. After users have registered on the website, Bolouri will constantly search the providers’ websites for local appointments free of charge. These websites usually contain online sources from major retailers and local health care providers.
“We did a lot of research into which authorized healthcare providers are available for these appointments, but more importantly, which ones they offer on their website. We can access these remotely, ”said Bolouri.
Experts FOX4 spoke to were skeptical of using external sources to find vaccinations. Bill Snook, a spokesman for the Kansas City Health Department, said he recommends sticking to verified, reliable sources to find appointments and sympathizes with those who are frustrated.
“It’s not ideal. We understand, ”said Snook. “The best way to get a vaccine at this point is to take these surveys, so when it comes time you can get that call.”
Snook said that Kansas City Health Department only receives 15,000 to 20,000 doses each week, and health officials are frustrated by it too, but the best way to sign up is with the resources of the state and county health department.
“The problem we see is that people are tired and frustrated and that other people get to where they think they are ahead. We see a lot of vaccination envy. We know it’s not ideal, but it hasn’t been done since the beginning of the 20th century. So we’re trying to do our best, ”said Snook.
