Colliers and SomeraRoad Inc. have secured the first tenant to Summit52, the recently renovated 300,000-square-foot office building on a 26.2-acre campus between I-35 and Johnson Drive on Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas.
IAC, represented by Mike Mayer and Conor Twibel of Cushman & Wakefield, will occupy about 35,000 square feet in the south portion of the building. IAC plans to occupy its new space in the fourth quarter of this year.
Ross Simpson of Colliers represented the landlord in this transaction.
SomeraRoad has made its mark on the Kansas City real estate market with its acquisition and repositioning of both 3Y and lightwell, which was formerly known as City Center Square. The firm acquired 3Y as a distressed asset when it was only 10 percent occupied and immediately renovated it, successfully leasing it to 100 percent occupancy.
SomeraRoad took a similar approach with the formerly distressed City Center Square property. After acquiring the 30-story tower, SomeraRoad rebranded it as lightwell, injected $16 million in base building upgrades and has signed more than 150,000 square feet of new leases to date.
